The Salesforce Certified Platform Integration Architect (Plat-Arch-204) validates your ability to assess the architecture environment and requirements and design secure, scalable integration solutions on the Salesforce Platform. This course prepares you for the exam: evaluating the current system landscape and business needs; translating needs into integration requirements; designing integration solutions using patterns such as REST, SOAP, Platform Events, Change Data Capture, External Services, callouts and named credentials; building the solution with the right security (OAuth, SSO, certificates), API-limit awareness, error handling and transaction control; and maintaining the integration. You earn it by passing one scenario-based exam (60 multiple-choice/multiple-select questions plus up to 5 unscored, 105 minutes) delivered by Pearson VUE - at a test centre or online - with the voucher purchased through Trailhead Academy. The passing score is reported differently across sources (around 67-70%) - confirm the current figure in the official exam guide. There is no prerequisite, though solid hands-on integration experience is recommended. It is an architect-tier exam ($400 first attempt / $200 retake).
Almost every serious Salesforce implementation connects to other systems, so skilled Salesforce integration architects are in strong demand. This credential proves you can design secure, scalable integrations on the Salesforce Platform - integration patterns, APIs, events, security, API-limit awareness, error handling and middleware. Because it has no prerequisite, experienced integration professionals can pursue it directly, and it is a recognised step on the architect pathway: a component of the System Architect credential and a stepping stone toward the Certified Technical Architect (CTA).

The Salesforce Platform Integration Architect certification exam evaluates your ability to design secure, scalable, and reliable integration solutions across the Salesforce Platform and external systems. It focuses on integration patterns, APIs, middleware, data synchronization, authentication, security, error handling, and performance considerations. Understanding the exam structure, key integration architecture domains, and certification requirements can help candidates prepare effectively and demonstrate their ability to design robust solutions for complex enterprise integration requirements.
Certification details verified on 19 August 2026. Confirm the current Integration Architect (Plat-Arch-204) exam guide, passing score, fees and maintenance requirements on the Salesforce site. The exam is 60 questions (plus up to 5 unscored) over 105 minutes via Pearson VUE, with a passing score reported around 67-70%. There is no prerequisite. The credential has no fixed expiry date but must be maintained through Trailhead. It was formerly the Integration Architecture Designer, and is a different credential from the MuleSoft certifications.
