Course Overview

CompTIA SecurityX (formerly CASP+) is CompTIA's most advanced cybersecurity certification - the capstone of the CompTIA security path. Where earlier certifications prove you can perform security tasks, SecurityX proves you can design, engineer, operate and govern security across an entire enterprise, and lead technical security decisions. You will cover security architecture; security engineering (including cryptography, and securing cloud, endpoints and networks); security operations at scale; and governance, risk and compliance (GRC). The current exam (CAS-005) is demanding and includes performance-based questions that reflect senior, real-world decisions. SecurityX is aimed at experienced professionals. There is no mandatory prerequisite, but CompTIA recommends significant experience - roughly ten years of general IT experience with around five years hands-on in security. It is earned by passing a single exam (CAS-005), taken at a Pearson VUE test centre or online with OnVUE proctoring. It is also approved under the US Department of Defense 8140 framework for certain roles, including at advanced levels (confirm on comptia.org).
