The Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Wireless certification is Cisco's expert-level credential for enterprise wireless networks. Cisco relaunched a dedicated wireless track on 19 March 2026, and the CCIE Wireless core exam is now 350-101 WLCOR (Implementing and Operating Cisco Wireless Core Technologies) - it is no longer the 350-401 ENCOR exam used before. The certification is earned in two steps: pass the written core exam (350-101 WLCOR), then pass the 8-hour, hands-on CCIE Wireless Lab. This course prepares you for both, covering the wireless scope: RF fundamentals; 802.11 technologies; wireless network implementation and operation (including Cisco Catalyst 9800 controllers and Meraki); client connectivity (WPA3, 802.1X and identity services); wireless monitoring and management (Cisco Catalyst Center, Radio Resource Management); and automation and AI (Python, NETCONF/YANG) - all taught with extensive hands-on practice. A few facts matter. Cisco does not publish a passing score - the written exam's threshold is not disclosed, and the lab is graded pass/fail. The written core is delivered by Pearson VUE (about US $400); the lab is taken at a Cisco lab location (about US $1,600, plus travel). As a Cisco certification, it is valid for three years and is renewed by recertification (passing eligible exams or earning Continuing Education credits).
CCIE is one of the most respected certifications in networking, and the Wireless track - relaunched as a dedicated credential in 2026 - proves you can design, deploy and operate enterprise wireless networks at expert level. With wireless now having its own dedicated Cisco track again, the credential is a strong signal for wireless specialists. It is often associated with senior wireless engineering, architecture and principal consulting roles. Because it requires passing a demanding written core exam and an 8-hour hands-on lab, a CCIE carries real weight with employers running large wireless environments.
