CCNA Automation (200-901) - formerly the Cisco Certified DevNet Associate (DEVASC) - is Cisco's associate-level certification for software, automation and APIs. On 3 February 2026 Cisco renamed its DevNet track to Automation; this is the same exam and blueprint, now called CCNA Automation (200-901 CCNAAUTO). It validates building and maintaining software that interacts with Cisco networks across six domains: software development and design, understanding and using APIs, Cisco platforms and development, application deployment and security, infrastructure and automation, and network fundamentals. You will work with Python, REST APIs, data formats (JSON, XML, YAML), version control (Git), containers (Docker), CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and Cisco platforms such as Catalyst Center, Meraki and Webex. There are no formal prerequisites - Cisco recommends about a year of software development experience and basic Python, but neither is required. The exam is delivered through Pearson VUE, runs 120 minutes with about 100-110 questions (multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank and simulation), and costs about US$300 (plus local tax). Cisco does not publish a fixed passing score.
