Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) is Microsoft's top-tier Azure architecture certification. It proves you can design cloud and hybrid solutions on Azure that meet business and technical requirements - across identity, governance and monitoring; data storage; business continuity and disaster recovery; and core infrastructure (compute, networking, storage). The AZ-305 exam - "Designing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions" - is a design exam: you read business scenarios and choose the best architecture, weighing security, cost, performance, reliability and operations. This is an Expert-level certification. To be awarded the Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification you must hold an active AZ-104 (Azure Administrator Associate) certification as well as passing AZ-305. You may take AZ-305 first, but the Expert credential is only issued once both are active. Microsoft recommends solid Azure administration experience before attempting AZ-305.

To be awarded the Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification you must hold an active AZ-104 as well as passing AZ-305. Microsoft uses a scaled score (700/1000 to pass), which is not the same as 70% correct.
