The Associate Data Practitioner is Google Cloud's associate-level certification for working with data. It proves you can prepare and ingest data, analyse and present it, orchestrate data pipelines, and manage data on Google Cloud. Expect hands-on work with BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Dataform, Cloud Composer and Looker (and Looker Studio), plus data governance with IAM. The exam has 50-60 questions (multiple-choice and multiple-select) and lasts 120 minutes. It is graded pass/fail - Google does not publish a numeric passing score. It costs about US$125 and is taken online with remote proctoring or at a test centre, delivered through Pearson VUE. You register through Google's certification portal. The certification is valid for three years; you renew by retaking the exam. This is an associate/entry-level data certification. There is no formal prerequisite, but Google recommends about six months of experience with Google Cloud data services. If you want the deeper, senior data credential later, that is the Professional Data Engineer. This course prepares you for the Associate Data Practitioner exam.
Data skills are in high demand across every industry, and Google Cloud (with BigQuery and Looker) is a major data platform. The Associate Data Practitioner is an accessible way to prove foundational cloud-data skills and start a data career. It opens entry data roles and leads on to the Professional Data Engineer certification.
