The AWS Certified Security - Specialty is AWS's advanced credential for cloud security. It proves you can secure AWS environments end to end - detecting threats and responding to incidents, logging and monitoring, securing infrastructure and networks, managing identity and access, protecting data with encryption, and governing security at scale. Expect a strong focus on services like IAM, AWS KMS, Amazon GuardDuty, AWS CloudTrail, AWS Config, AWS WAF and AWS Security Hub. It is now the only remaining AWS Specialty. AWS retired the Data Analytics, Database and SAP on AWS Specialties in 2024, and the Machine Learning and Advanced Networking Specialties in 2026 - so Security stands alone, and AWS continues to keep it current. Please note the exam code is transitioning from SCS-C02 to the updated SCS-C03 during 2026. The format is the same either way, so confirm the current live code on aws.amazon.com before booking.

This is an advanced, deep-dive certification for experienced security people who work with AWS. It is ideal for: - Cloud security engineers and architects - Security consultants and analysts - DevSecOps engineers - Solutions architects moving into security AWS recommends around five years of IT security experience and a couple of years securing AWS workloads. There is no hard prerequisite - anyone can register - but this is not a beginner course. If you are newer to AWS, start with our Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect - Associate course first.
