The AWS Certified Data Engineer - Associate (DEA-C01) is AWS's certification for people who build and run data pipelines on AWS. It proves you can ingest, transform, store, secure and operate data at scale - the work data engineers do. It is a mid-level, technical certification and the modern successor to the retired AWS Data Analytics - Specialty. You will cover the four exam domains: Data Ingestion and Transformation; Data Store Management; Data Operations and Support; and Data Security and Governance. Expect a strong focus on the data services AWS teams use most - AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift, Amazon Kinesis, Amazon Athena, Amazon EMR, AWS Lake Formation and Amazon S3 - and on designing pipelines that are efficient, reliable and secure. The exam is DEA-C01: 65 questions (multiple-choice and multiple-response) in 130 minutes, scored on a scale of 100-1000 with 720 required to pass. It costs US$150 and is taken at a Pearson VUE test centre or online with remote proctoring. You register through your AWS Certification account. The certification is valid for three years.
