The Salesforce Certified JavaScript Developer I (exam code JS-Dev-101) validates core JavaScript skills and hands-on Lightning Web Components development. This course prepares you for both parts: core JavaScript - variables, types and collections; objects, functions and classes; browser and events; debugging and error handling; asynchronous programming; server-side JavaScript (Node); and testing - and building Lightning Web Components. You earn the credential in two parts: (1) JavaScript Developer I proctored multiple-choice exam (60 scored questions plus up to 5 unscored, 105 minutes) delivered by Pearson VUE - at a test centre or online - with the voucher purchased through Trailhead Academy; and (2) Lightning Web Components Specialist Superbadge, a hands-on project completed free on Trailhead. You can do them in either order. The passing score for the exam is 65% (confirm the current figure). There is no prerequisite to sit; Salesforce recommends about 1-2 years of JavaScript experience.
Lightning Web Components are central to modern Salesforce development, and this credential proves you can work with them - backed by solid core JavaScript. Because the exam is platform-agnostic, it serves two audiences: web and JavaScript developers moving into Salesforce, and Salesforce developers strengthening their JavaScript fundamentals. It pairs naturally with the Platform Developer path.

It has no fixed expiry date but must be maintained through Trailhead.
JavaScript Developer I suits two groups: - Web, front-end and full-stack developers moving into the Salesforce ecosystem - Salesforce developers strengthening their core JavaScript and Lightning Web Component skills There is no prerequisite to sit; Salesforce recommends about 1-2 years of JavaScript experience. Because the multiple-choice exam is platform-agnostic (standard JavaScript - ES6, Node, npm), it is valuable even beyond Salesforce, while the Superbadge builds real Lightning Web Component skills.
