The Texas Real Estate Sales Agent License is a state-issued license that lets you work as an entry-level real estate agent in Texas, under the sponsorship of a licensed broker. It is issued by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC) - it is a license, not a certification. To earn it, you complete 180 hours of TREC-approved pre-licensing education (six mandatory 30-hour courses), then pass the Texas sales agent state exam (administered by Pearson VUE, with a national portion and a Texas state portion - you must pass both). You also complete a fingerprint background check, submit your TREC application, and have your license activated by a sponsoring broker before you can practise; until a broker sponsors you, the license is issued inactive.
