Cisco Certified Support Technician (CCST) Cybersecurity is Cisco's entry-level cybersecurity certification. It validates security fundamentals: essential security principles (the CIA triad, threats, attacks and vulnerabilities), information and network security concepts, endpoint security, vulnerability assessment and risk management basics, and incident handling. It is an ideal first credential for anyone starting toward a cybersecurity career. There are no prerequisites. Cisco recommends a basic understanding of the exam topics, but no prior certification is required. The exam (100- 160) is delivered through Pearson VUE - online with remote proctoring, or at a test centre - and costs about US$125 (varies by region). Cisco does not publish a fixed passing score; it varies by exam, so ignore any source that quotes a set percentage. A CCST certification earned on or after 15 July 2025 is valid for 5 years. You recertify by passing any current Cisco exam (CCST, associate, professional or expert) before it expires. Note that Continuing Education (CE) credits, which apply to CyberOps and above, do not count toward CCST recertification. CCST Cybersecurity is also a recognised first step toward Cisco's cybersecurity path (CyberOps Associate). This course prepares you for the exam.
