The Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH v13) is EC-Council's flagship ethical hacking certification. It teaches you to identify and exploit security weaknesses using the same tools and techniques as malicious hackers - but legally and with authorisation - so you can help organisations fix them first. Version 13 covers 20 modules, from reconnaissance, scanning and system hacking to malware, web and wireless attacks, mobile, IoT/OT, cloud, cryptography and AI-driven attack and defence. The core credential is earned by passing one knowledge exam: 125 multiple-choice questions in 4 hours (exam code 312-50). There is also an optional 6-hour hands-on Practical exam with 20 real-world challenges; passing both the knowledge exam and the Practical earns the CEH Master designation. You can take the knowledge exam online via EC-Council Remote Proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.
CEH is the most recognised name in ethical hacking, and its DoD 8140/8570 approval means US government and defense-contractor roles frequently list it as a requirement. It proves you can think like an attacker - reconnaissance, exploitation, web and wireless attacks, cloud and IoT, and now AI-driven techniques - and it is a strong door-opener into offensive security, vulnerability assessment, SOC and government cyber roles.
