The AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer - Associate (SOA-C03) is AWS's certification for people who operate and run systems on AWS. It proves you can monitor, automate, secure and keep reliable the workloads running on AWS in production. It is the operations-focused member of AWS's three Associate certifications, alongside Solutions Architect (design) and Developer (build). Please note a name change: this certification was called the "AWS Certified SysOps Administrator - Associate" until 30 September 2025, when AWS renamed it to "CloudOps Engineer - Associate" and updated the exam to SOA-C03. The old SOA-C02 exam is retired; only SOA-C03 is available now. The new version brings containers, multi-account architectures and infrastructure as code into scope. You will cover the exam's operational domains - monitoring, logging and remediation; reliability and business continuity; deployment, provisioning and automation; security and compliance; and networking - across the key AWS services. The exam is question-only (there are no hands-on labs).
Every organisation running on AWS needs people to keep it running well. The CloudOps Engineer - Associate proves you can operate, monitor, automate and secure AWS systems in production - the skills employers hire cloud operations, DevOps and platform engineers for. It strengthens your position for operations and DevOps roles, complements the Solutions Architect and Developer certifications, and is a foundation towards the AWS DevOps Engineer - Professional.
