The Program Management Professional (PgMP)® Certification by PMI is an advanced credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects to achieve strategic business benefits. Positioned above PMP® in PMI’s certification hierarchy, PgMP® validates expertise in program strategy, governance, leadership, and benefits realization. Unlike project management certifications, PgMP® focuses on managing complex programs, aligning projects with organizational goals, and delivering measurable business value. This training helps professionals prepare for the PgMP® application review, experience summaries, and the 170-question certification exam with a structured, PMI-aligned approach. Ideal for experienced project managers, program managers, PMO leaders, and senior professionals looking to advance their careers in program management.
PgMP® sits at the senior end of PMI's certification ladder. It is held by fewer than 6,000 professionals worldwide, against more than 1.4 million PMP® holders — which is precisely what makes it a differentiator at director and portfolio level. PMI's own role definition describes the PgMP holder as someone who, under minimal supervision, is responsible and accountable for the coordinated management of multiple related projects directed toward strategic business objectives, spanning functions, organisations, geographic regions and cultures.
