The Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) Automation certification is Cisco's expert-level credential for network automation. It was formerly called DevNet Expert; on 3 February 2026 Cisco renamed the whole track to Cisco Automation, and the core exam 350-901 was rebuilt and renamed from DEVCOR to AUTOCOR (Designing, Deploying and Managing Network Automation Systems). The certification is earned in two steps: pass the written core exam (350-901 AUTOCOR), then pass the 8-hour, hands-on CCIE Automation practical exam (v1.1). This course prepares you for both, covering the automation scope: network automation systems development and design; infrastructure as code with Python, Ansible and Terraform; automation operations and CI/CD pipelines; and AI in automation - applied across Cisco platforms such as IOS XE, Catalyst Center, Meraki, SD-WAN, ACI and Identity Services Engine - all taught with extensive hands-on practice. A few facts matter. Cisco does not publish a passing score - the written exam's threshold is not disclosed, and the practical is graded pass/fail. The written core is delivered by Pearson VUE (about US $400); the practical is taken at a Cisco lab location (about US $1,600, plus travel). As a Cisco certification, it is valid for three years and is renewed by recertification (passing eligible exams or earning Continuing Education credits).
CCIE is one of the most respected certifications in networking, and the Automation track - the renamed, expanded successor to DevNet Expert - proves you can design, build and operate network automation at expert level. As networks become more software-driven, this credential is a strong signal for network automation and platform engineering roles. It is often associated with senior network automation engineering, platform engineering and principal consulting roles. Because it requires passing a demanding written core exam and an 8-hour hands-on practical, a CCIE carries real weight with employers building automation at scale.
