The Certified Scrum Developer (CSD) is the entry certification for the "developer" on a Scrum team - the team member who builds the product. It is issued by Scrum Alliance, and it is the starting point of the developer track that leads to A-CSD and CSP-D. CSD is earned by attending a live 16-hour (two-day) course taught by a Scrum Alliance-approved CSD trainer, in person or online. During the course you complete an assessment set by the trainer - which may be an exam or a hands-on classroom activity - to show you understand Scrum and agile development practices. There are no prerequisites, so you can start whether or not you have a certification already. In this course you will learn the Scrum framework and how a development team turns ideas into working software within it: building quality in, working iteratively and incrementally, collaborating as a team, and delivering a valuable increment each sprint. There is one real requirement, and it is simple: you must attend a CSD course taught by a Scrum Alliance-approved CSD trainer and pass the assessment that trainer sets (an exam or a hands-on activity). One thing to check before you enrol: most CSD courses are technical and designed for people who build software, so they assume you are comfortable in a development context.
