PRINCE2 is the world's most widely adopted project management method, held by around two million people and named as a requirement in job adverts across the UK, Europe, Canada and beyond. Foundation is its entry point - and the 7th edition, released by PeopleCert in 2023, is the biggest update to the method in years. The 7th edition keeps what PRINCE2 is known for - its seven principles, its structured practices and processes - while adding a new "People" element covering teams, leadership and communication, building sustainability into every practice, and adding guidance for digital tools and hybrid and agile delivery. It also renamed the seven "themes" to seven "practices". This course prepares you for the PRINCE2 Foundation (7th edition) certification. You will learn the method's shared language and structure: the seven principles that define a PRINCE2 project, the seven practices (business case, organizing, plans, quality, risk, issues and progress), the seven processes that run a project from start-up to closure, and how the new People element fits in.
PRINCE2 is one of the most recognised project management qualifications in the world, and in the UK, Europe, Canada and Australia it is frequently a named requirement in project roles. Foundation shows you understand a proven, structured way to run projects - and the 7th edition keeps that knowledge current with people, sustainability and digital delivery. It also pairs well with a PMP: PRINCE2 gives you a method to run a project, PMP gives you broad professional knowledge, and many project managers hold both.

PRINCE2 Foundation has no prerequisites. You do not need a degree, and you do not need any project experience - anyone can take it. That makes it one of the most accessible professional certifications available, and a natural first project management qualification. Here is where it leads: - Foundation is the required first step before PRINCE2 Practitioner, the higher-level certification that tests applying the method and carries the most weight with employers. - Foundation does not expire, so once you have it, it is yours to keep. One honest note: if you already hold PMP, CAPM, an IPMA Level A-D, or the APM PMQ or PPQ, you may not need Foundation at all - those certifications let you go straight to PRINCE2 Practitioner. If that is you, talk to us about starting at Practitioner instead. If not, Foundation is your starting point.
